TUTORIALS

To understand the tutorial structure you need to understand the course structure. This is basically constructed of two parts each following the year long Design Process (which we summarise as ‘find play make talk’).The first part of the course is ‘Supporting Studies’, a technology and methods programme that underpins everything that we do.

This programme teaches you all the basic skills that you will need as a Product Designer. Some of these basic skills are developed further in the ‘Supporting Studies’ programme but most are introductions that you might choose to follow up in ‘Self Study’ periods.

The second part of the course is ‘Project Work’ which is a practice based learning programme. This is were you experiment with your new skills whilst undertaking projects based around the Design Process or ‘Industry Led’ subject areas.  Supporting the Project Work for all years is achieved through a Tutorial based programme. These alternate weekly between a regular visiting lecturer and a permanent staff member. During these individual and group Tutorials we discuss and develop your work. In the group tutorials you also listen, take notes and contribute were appropriate to the general discussion as this will be relevant to your learning experience.
